Your new eyebrows, eyeliner or lip blush will go through several phases during the healing cycle. Here’s an overview of the typical stages of healing.
Day 1-2: Initial Healing
-What to Expect: Immediately after the procedure, the treated area may look much darker and more intense than expected. There can be some redness, swelling, and a feeling of tenderness similar to mild sunburn.
-What's Happening: The pigment is fresh and has not yet settled into the skin, which causes it to appear more vibrant. Your skin is in the early stages of healing, responding to the minor trauma from the needle.
Day 3-7: Scabbing and Flaking
-What to Expect: The treated area will begin to form a thin layer of scabs as the skin heals. Flaking or peeling is common, and the area might start to feel dry and itchy. Avoid picking or scratching as it can pull off scabs prematurely and cause patchy results or scarring.
-What's Happening: The skin's natural healing process is underway, which involves the formation of scabs to protect the area. As the scabs flake off, it might seem like you're losing pigment, but this is normal.
Day 8-14: Lightening Phase
-What to Expect: Once the scabs have flaked off, the colour may appear significantly lighter than it was initially, or even patchy. This is often the stage when clients worry that the colour is fading too much.
-What's Happening: The skin is still healing, and the pigment is settling deeper into the layers. The lightening is part of the process, and the final colour will start to come through as the skin continues to heal.
Day 15-30: Colour Re-Emergence
-What to Expect: The colour of the semi-permanent makeup gradually re-emerges and begins to look more even. You will start to see the true colour and shape of the treatment.
-What's Happening: The pigment has now settled into the skin and the healing process is nearing completion. Any remaining unevenness or light spots will often correct themselves during this period.
4-6 Weeks: Complete Healing and Touch-Up
-What to Expect: By this point, the treated area should be fully healed. The colour has settled, and you will have a clearer idea of what the final results look like. A touch-up session is usually recommended at this stage.
-What's Happening: Any minor imperfections, such as colour gaps or uneven areas, will be addressed during the touch-up. This session helps to refine the shape and colour, ensuring the semi-permanent makeup looks as natural and consistent as possible.
